Altayeb was enrolled on to the Lean Manufacturing distance learning course as due to current COVID-19 situation was laid off from his employer. He has worked since the age of 12 years old helping his dad in his family owned take away and therefore is not shy of hard work.

Prior to beginning the course, Altayeb said he was hoping to achieve a job outcome and also the qualifications to use within different areas of work. At both his mid-point review and end of course evaluation he gave feedback that the course was more than expected and found it an enjoyable experience. Altayeb said that the course more than met his expectations and said he will be able to take an abundance of information into his new job role.

At the beginning of the course, he was quiet and reserved as many people are. Over the first few days as the group got to know each other, he was more interactive during the group activities, sharing knowledge and experiences freely.

The work submitted by Altayeb, was always on time and to a high standard. He was able to develop on his area for improvement which was written work and grammar.

In Altayeb’s end of course evaluation he said that he has learnt a number of skills that he will be able to use in both his personal and professional career, and is looking forward to being given the opportunities to do so.

Next Steps

Altayeb has now gained employment with Nifco in Eaglescliffe after a successful interview and trial.
