Case Study

Learner Journey & Progression

The Equality and Diversity course is delivered via distance learning study packs. Scott immediately adapted to working from the packs and subsequently has submitted tasks. His work has been of a consistently high standard. Scott has met submission deadlines and is on track to achieve his qualification.

In relation to his Warehousing qualification, Scott has shown great adaptability and flexibility working with two tutors to support him.

For both courses Scott has attended every single on-line training session, tutorial or meeting on time. He has submitted all assessments in line with expectations and on time. Scott has demonstrated great organisational skills regarding both courses in relation to file and calendar management. Scott has received top scores in all aspects of his performance, skills and behaviours during his learner reviews.

Scott has been put forward for a vacancy with the recruitment team based on his performance so far. Scott indicated on enrolment that his reasons for completing the programmes are to help him gain skills and knowledge that will help him to get into work. He is due to complete the programme in early June and all indications so far are that he will successfully do just this.

Scott is an excellent example of making best use of time to develop employability skills during this lockdown period.

How do you hope the course will help you following completion?

“I hope that these courses will make myself more employable due to going out of my way to gain more skills within a global pandemic and also open more careers to me that may not of been available before completing these courses.” – Scott

How have you found the distance learning experience? What did you enjoy about this?

“I have enjoyed the distance learning experience over normal classroom learning because it has given me the freedom to complete work when it suits me. This has been great as there are certain days where I may not have the drive to sit and work on my assignments and there are other days where I have a drive to get a lot of work done. It also allows me to break up the work into smaller chunks. It has been refreshing to be able to complete a course where I feel in control of when I complete work.” – Scott

What are your planned next steps?

“My planned next steps are to complete the courses I am on, then use these new skills to gain a long-term career.” – Scott
