Unlocking Digital Skills – Skills Bootcamp

Unlocking Digital Skills – Skills Bootcamp
What were you doing career wise before the course and what led you to join the course?
“I’ve just finished university doing a marketing degree. I saw the course advertised on Indeed. I was just looking at digital marketing, so specifically what I want to do. And then this course came up.” – Charlotte
Did you find it hard trying to find work after university?
“I feel like it was quite difficult knowing what employers wanted. It was very vague of the conditions and obviously things like years of experience that I don’t necessarily have. It’s hard to fit that into what employers need.” – Charlotte
How did you feel about attending the course?
“I knew it would be like some sort of educational thing in the building. I was okay with commuting and stuff. I was excited.” – Charlotte
What goals did you have going into the course? (Have you achieved these goals?)
“Just to kind of focus more on what employers want. They mentioned CV advice and things like that, and talking about how these skills apply in the industry, I found that was really useful. And that’s what I was looking forward to. I feel I have achieved the goals I came onto the course with. So far we have had a CV talk on Friday, and it was really useful how they broke down what employers need, what you should include and what you shouldn’t include in your CV.” – Charlotte
What skills have you learnt on the course?
“I’ve already had some experience in Canva before, but we’ve done a lot of work with Canva, and I’ve sort of played with it a lot. I have learnt some new skills with that; that was really good. Just talking things sort of back to basics of how digital marketing could apply in the industry and how USP is still applying when you do social media posts and stuff.” – Charlotte
How do you feel like the experience differs from university?
“I feel because I’ve got the knowledge, and marketing is a little bit on the easier side for me, but I think just honestly recapping of just these basic things. At university, you go so far ahead that you kind of forget the basics. Maybe just going back to the basics and learning about them again has opened my mind a bit more.” – Charlotte
What have you enjoyed about this course?
“Honestly, I like the workflow. I feel it’s nice taking notes and then also actually on the laptops; it’s not just all on paper, which the first week was like, ‘It’s not all on paper.’ It’s digital marketing. So you get to use laptops. I found that was really good.” – Charlotte
How have you found the teaching on the course?
“I found the teaching to be really good. I was kind of scared it would be like schooling, but I feel like it’s a lot more laid back, which I feel is really good. And I feel like you were treated like adults. And it’s a lot nicer.” – Charlotte
How will this course help you with your career goals / ambitions?
“I feel like honestly putting the advice I’ve learnt on my CV as well as going back over the basics and things that I’ve learnt from this course. I can just say that I know how to do these things, and I think I’ve got a good chance of getting a good job.” – Charlotte
Would you recommend this course to others?
“Yes, definitely. I feel this course has been interesting. And also, we’ve had a little help finding jobs going forward with. I definitely recommend it to others.” – Charlotte
