UK Government Net Zero Targets
Net Zero by 2025
The UK Government has set this legally binding target for the entire UK to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This includes all sectors of the economy, with businesses playing a crucial role in achieving this goal.
68% Emissions Reduction by 2030
As part of contributions to the Paris Agreement, the UK has committed to a 68% reduction in emissions by 2030.
New Efficiency Rules for Commercial Buildings
From 2025, it will be illegal to lease out commercial buildings without a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
Anti-Greenwashing Rules
From spring 2025, companies that make false or misleading claims about how green or sustainable they are can be fined.
Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)
Large businesses must keep reporting each year how much energy they use and how much carbon they emit.
