George – Support back into employment
Case Study
Learner Journey & Progression
George completed a course with Optimum Skills in early 2020, to which he was put into employment with the support of Optimum Skills. However, he found himself looking for work following being laid off due to COVID. After trying to find work with no success, George reached out to us for help, due to the fantastic support and experience he felt he had previously received from Optimum Skills.
George had previously worked in warehousing and production environments and was looking for opportunities that could lead to employment within these sectors.
One of the Business Development Managers had a conversation with George to gauge what he was looking for and what he could offer employers to find the right fit. The conversation had with George gave an insight into the positive attitude he had to work and his commitment to the course from day one.
The Business Development Manager spoke to a few partner employer contacts and found the right opportunity for George. George was happy to be put forward for an interview with Symington’s in Consett. He was thrilled with the support from Optimum Skills and to be given the opportunity, even though he was not a recent learner. The following week he went for an interview and he was offered the role to start immediately.
“I got the job. Thank you so much for talking and going out of your way to help me.” – George George started at Symington’s in January 2021 and is still happily employed.
