Learning and Skills Mentor Apprenticeship Level 4
Supporting learners of all ages, and all levels, to develop within a new work role.
The learner mentor apprenticeship is for new and existing staff to undertake. The qualification aims to develop different knowledge, skills and behaviours around: supporting individuals and groups with their learning and development towards agreed goals, being responsible for the mentor relationship working within legal and ethical frameworks, working collaboratively with others, committed to their own professional development and reflective practice. The learner mentor role may be a gateway to further career opportunities, such as tutor, trainer, technical mentor, team leader / supervisor etc.
Training Programme
Knowledge – to learn and gather evidence on
• Mentoring contracts, mentoring theories and models, legal requirements, strategies for starting points and barriers, role of a mentor, methods of communications, feedback methods, IAG methods, theories and models of evaluation and reflection, CPD, research methods.
Skills – to develop, demonstrate and evidence
• Sustainable mentoring practice, maintaining mentoring contracts and records, establish starting points, assess and review progress, provide feedback, inform,advise and guide, apply theories and models, reflect on own practice, apply mentoring practice from research.
Behaviours – to develop, demonstrate and evidence
• Sustainable practices, professional boundaries, resilience, adaptability, deal with challenge and change, mutual respect and equality and diversity, improving own practice.
