Job Title: Transport Apprenticeship Tutor

Location: National delivery

Reports to: Senior Quality and Operations Manager   

Salary: Specialist Tutor – Band B

Job Purpose:

The Transport Apprenticeship Tutor will play a pivotal role in guiding and training learners through their apprenticeship journey within the transport and logistics sector. The role focuses on delivering high-quality training aligned to Urban Driver and Passenger Transport standards, supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for professional driving roles.

The tutor will deliver engaging learning experiences, provide tailored support, and ensure apprentices are fully prepared for End Point Assessment (EPA). This role requires industry experience, including holding (willing to work towards) a Category C / D licence, alongside strong communication and motivational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Effective Delivery:
Deliver engaging and interactive training sessions, workshops, and Hub days using a range of teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs within the transport sector.

Curriculum Development:
Work collaboratively to develop and adapt curriculum content, ensuring alignment with industry standards, compliance requirements, and employer needs.

Learner Support:
Provide individualised coaching, mentoring, and support to apprentices, helping them develop professional driving competencies and achieve career goals.

Assessment and Feedback:
Carry out regular assessments of learner progress, including knowledge, skills, and behaviours. Provide timely, constructive feedback to support development and readiness for EPA.

Meet KPI Targets:
Achieve or exceed performance targets relating to learner progress, timely completions, compliance, and quality standards.

Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance, progress reviews, and assessments, ensuring compliance with ESFA funding rules and organisational procedures.

Drive Successful Outcomes:
Monitor progress closely and intervene where necessary to ensure learners successfully complete their apprenticeship and EPA.

Learning Environment:
Create a positive, inclusive, and professional learning environment that promotes engagement, safety awareness, and industry best practice.

Continuous Professional Development:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport regulations, driver standards, and industry developments through ongoing CPD.

Teamwork:
Communicate effectively with learners, employers, and colleagues to ensure a high-quality apprenticeship experience.

Additional Responsibilities:
Undertake any additional duties required to support the success and growth of Optimum Skills.

Qualifications, Competence & Behaviours

  • Have a minimum of 1 year occupational experience be able to demonstrate a high level of practical skill in the sector relevant to subject area.
  • Must have previously held a Category C (Class 2) licence and / or Category D licence and demonstrate strong industry knowledge
  • Hold or be willing to work towards relevant teaching qualifications
  • Hold or be willing to work towards relevant assessing qualifications e.g. CAVA.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT) or equivalent
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems, including Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Have experience of training and/or assessing in an educational or workplace environment.
  • Good understanding of ESFA funding rules, EPA requirements etc.
  • Be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with Company Values.

  • Share a current/be willing to undertake a DBS Enhanced Disclosure check.
  • Share references which are satisfactory to the Company.
  • Car user essential due to travel
