Job Title: Pastoral Coach (Construction)
Location: Based at Gateshead
Reports to: Senior Operations Manager
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000
Job Purpose: The ideal candidate will be passionate and dynamic to deliver a transformative programme aimed at both 16–18-year-olds and adults (19+). This role involves guiding learners through a comprehensive assessment that includes interactive exercises, self-reflection, and practical skill-building activities. The focus areas are healthy living, resilience, learning agility, and communication skills. Alongside this, working with individuals with SEND needs to ensure the right support is put in place to facilitate their learning.

Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities have been aligned to the handbook for the inspection of further education and skills.
- Facilitate interactive sessions that engage learners in exploring and developing and developing personal and professional skills.
- Manage the personal and professional development assessment process for all learners, reviewing reports and translating priorities.
- Guide learners through self-assessment exercises to identify strengths and areas for growth.
- Teach practical skills and strategies for resilience, communication, and adaptability.
- Provide individual support to learners, helping them to create and follow through on a personal and professional development plan.
- Support learners who present with SEND needs to ensure they have the right adaptations in place to support their learning.
- Carry out assessments on learners to support with ALS funding claims.
- Assess learner progress and provide construction feedback to help them achieve their goals.
- Create and update learning materials in line with the curriculum development team to ensure they are relevant and effective.
- Liaise with parents and carers of learners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Stay update with the best practices in personal and professional development, alongside health and wellbeing topics.
- Work collaboratively with wider teams including tutors and senior managers to ensure effective communication and sharing of information.
Qualifications & Training
- Be committed to continuous professional development
- Hold a relevant teaching certificate e.g. PTTLS, PGCE, Certificate in Education (desirable)
- Level 2 Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT) or equivalent (desirable)
- Experience of working with individuals with SEND needs
- Passion to support learners in achieving their goals
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong planning and co-ordination skills
- Good interpersonal and teamworking skills
- Proficient in the use of IT systems, including Microsoft Office programmes
- Hold coaching and mentoring skills
