Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Level 2

Carrying out a range of moving, packaging and stock-taking roles and duties in a warehouse environment.

Warehouse Operatives work in a variety of warehouse environments. Work activities include taking deliveries, checking for damaged/missing items, storing goods, moving stock by various methods, picking/packing orders, loading goods for dispatch, maintaining stock records and documentation, and cleaning. They are required to safely use a range of equipment, machinery and vehicles, as relevant to their role and setting. This could include mechanical racking systems, materials handling equipment (MHE) or fork lift trucks.

Warehouse Operatives communicate with a wide range of people and customers. They have a passion to meet customers’ expectations by providing a quality service that encourages repeat business. Individuals in this role are highly competent in using industry-recognised systems and associated services (eg Traffic/Warehouse Management Systems) and will be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines. A Warehouse Operative will often be required to be flexible and work shifts including 4-on-4-off, days, nights, evenings and weekends.

    The End Point Assessment will consist of:

    1. Knowledge and Behaviour Test – Short answer test.
    2. Practical Assessment – To demonstrate efficiency in aspects of the role.

Training Programme

Apprentices will need to complete a training programme designed to cover the 4 mandatory standard components: core knowledge, warehouse skills, behaviours and a practical demonstration. Apprentices will be required to demonstrate continuous and sustained progress towards the end point assessment, by completing work as set out by their employer, demonstrating the knowledge and skills required in the relevant role. They will also complete Level 1 or Level 2 English and maths if required and may achieve nationally-recognised vendor or other qualifications if the employer chooses such as Fork Lift Truck qualifications. All apprentices will be required to keep a log book to demonstrate learning and achievement.
